The International Short Film Festival 2023, hosted by 'Ekhon Raddoor' and presented by Balaji Group, unfolded from November 16 to 18 at ICCR, marking its second edition. This festival served as a tribute to the birth centenary of the renowned Indian Auteur, Mrinal Sen.
Throughout the three days, the festival screened a diverse selection of eight short films, showcasing the creativity of emerging filmmakers from countries like Iran, Germany, France, USA, and Estonia. With an audience of around 500 spectators each day, the event became a platform for cinematic exploration.
Bengali celebrities, including Mamta Shankar, Sheela Majumdar, Sohini Sengupta, Satrupa Sanyal, and Biswanath Basu, graced the inauguration ceremony. Technical Director Dinesh Poddar highlighted the educational value for students, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn from the diverse range of short films. Filmmaker Debashis Sengupta emphasized the significance of short films as a stepping stone to larger cinematic projects, offering students valuable insights.
Mamta Shankar expressed her delight at being part of the festival and lauded the contributions of Mrinal Sen. She acknowledged that her recognition today is indebted to Mrinal da, emphasizing the enduring impact of his work.
